From October 2024 to March 2025, Miłosz Jankowski visited the group of Maja Schlüter at the University of Stockholm

In cooperation with the Stockholm Resilience Centre, he worked on developing a domain-specific language for relation-based modeling (RBM) of social-ecological systems - a novel approach to classical agent-based modeling. In this context he conducted qualitative interviews to learn about the process-relational philosophy behind RBM, the target domain, and the needs of the modelers. He then constructed the DSL prototype to bridge the gap between philosophy and modelers. The DSL is expected to support modelers in adapting this new paradigm in future research projects. To this end, Miłosz was able to successfully translate an existing model of a Mexican small-scale fishery into his DSL. This resulted in a more succinct model demonstrating the expressiveness of the developed language.

The cooperation between the Stockholm Resilience Centre and the Modeling and Simulation Group in Rostock will continue with first case-studies and Miłosz further improving the DSL and the prototypical simulation tool.
