Justin Kreikemeyer visited the group of Jane Hillston at the University of Edinburgh

From October 2019 to March 2020, Justin Kreikemeyer visited the group of Jane Hillston at the University of Edinburgh.

In cooperation with the Edinburgh Festival Mobility Project, he worked on enhancing the Edinburgh Cycle Hire (ECH) system of Edinburgh. In this context he conducted a simulation study to analyse the current system and to improve its effectiveness. The application of recent computer science methods, such as spatio-temporal statistical model checking and a process algebra-inspired domain-specific modelling language for simulating and analysing agent-based systems allowed new insights in the methods strengths. Together with the thorough simulation study these are the subject of his conference paper "Probing the Performance of the Edinburgh Bike Sharing System using SSTL" which Justin will present at the international ACM SIGSIM Conference on Principles of Advanced Discrete Simulation (PADS).

Our cooperation partners in Edinburgh are looking for students to continue the project with ECH. If you are interested in such an internship in late fall 2020 or early spring 2021 please contact Adelinde Uhrmacher.
